The Building & Zoning Department is located at 2285 Union Street (within three blocks from City Hall). The departments which function under this division are:

• Occupational Licensing - responsible for licensing of all businesses which operate within the City limits and special events such as carnivals and circus.

• Zoning - responsible for interpretation of codes, building uses and location of businesses.

• Plan Review - responsible for review of all new and remodeling plans for residential and commercial structures, signage and fencing.

• Permitting - responsible for permits for all construction dealing with building, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, demolition, etc.

• Code Enforcement - responsible for enforcement of all codes such as unsafe structures, lot mowing violations, untagged vehicles, building code violations, etc.

• Inspections - responsible to be sure that all work is in compliance with State and local building codes.
