Administrative Aide B $8.05/hr
Building & Zoning (1201). Clerical position involving general administrative
support to the department. Essential functions include strong communication
skills and ability to perform all clerical functions. Requires high school
diploma or equivalent, the ability to type a minimum of 45 cwpm, 63%
accuracy on grammar test, and ability to take & transcribe dictation
(test required).
Administrative Aide B $8.05/hr
Police Department (1002). Clerical position involving general administrative
support to the department. Essential functions include: processing purchase
requisitions & travel vouchers, strong telephone & in-person communication
skills, ability to perform all clerical functions. Requires high school diploma
or equivalent, the ability to type a minimum of 45 cwpm, and 63% accuracy
on grammar test.
Assistant Planner Commensurate
with Experience
Planning (1301). Assists with the technical aspects of planning projects and
utilize computer aided drafting (AUTOCAD) equipment to prepare
maps, plans, graphic presentations, and other documents for incorporation
into projects. Requires a four-year degree in planning, landscape
architectecture, or a related field (or equivalent experience) plus specific
training in AUTOCAD. Knowledge of PC's, DOS, and Windows required.
Knowledge of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) preferred.
Auto Mechanic B $8.05/hr
Garage (0919). Inspect, service, and maintain City vehicles. Essential
functions include maintenance and general repair of City vehicles and
equipment, including small engines. Requires two years related experience,
a valid Florida class "B" CDL with airbrake endorsement, and a good
driving record. Must have own hand tools. Hours: Monday through
Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Building Official Commensurate
with Experience
Building & Zoning (1201). Responsible for interpreting, administering,
and enforcing Federal, State, and Local requirements pertaining to
health, safety, and zoning codes. Essential duties include supervision
of technical and clerical staff and interaction with City Legal Department
and the public. Requires at least ten years experience or equivalent as
and architect, engineer, inspector, contractor, or superintendent of
construction, or any combination of these, five years of which shall have
been in supervision. The building official should be certified as a building
official through a recognized certification program. Prefer Bachelor's
degree in related field.
City Clerk Commensurate
with Experience
City Clerk (0401). Responsible to the Mayor for the integrity and
maintenance of public records and official documents. Other duties
include drafting of ordinances and resolutions, and sales of City
cemetery lots. Requires knowledge of public record law, Florida State
election law and Florida State Statutes pertaining to city government.
Prefer Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field, as
well as certification as Municipal Clerk. Equivalent experience and
training considered.
Director of Imaginarium Commensurate
with Experience
Imaginarium (1860). High-level management position reporting directly
to Mayor and responsible for overall operation of hands-on museum,
aquarium, theatre, and gift shop. Requires minimum of 3 years experience
in similar setting; background in science technology and marine life;
degree in related field; and fundraising, administrative development,
organizational, and communications skills.
Internal Auditor II Commensurate
with Experience
Internal Auditor (2201). Responsible for required audits of city departments
and contracting providers. Essential functions include conducting and
supervising all audit work and special consulting activities. Requires
Accounting degree, minimum of 3 years accounting experience, with
no less than 3 years in governmental auditing. CPA, experience in Excel,
Word, and flow charting desirable.
Labor A Temporary $6.58/hr
Fort Myers Golf Course (2001). Semi-skilled work in the operation of
simple to moderately complex equipment. Essential functions: mowing,
edging, and general golf course maintenance. Requires a valid Florida
driver's license with a good driving record. Six days per week, starting
time 5:30 a.m./hours variable.
Labor B $6.58/hr
Streets & Drainage (0904). Responsible for routine maintenance of City
right of ways, canals, ditches, and lots. Essential functions include cutting
grass and weeds along ditch banks and construction and repair of streets
and curbs. Other duties could include operation of trucks and light
equipment, excavation to repair drainage pipe, and cleaning and repair of
equipment. Requires high school diploma or equivalent, related experience
and a valid Florida "A" or "B" CDL driver's license with "N" endorsement.
Hours: 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
