Statement of Purpose

From the Bylaws of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Fort Myers

This church is dedicated to free religious thought, unimpeded by creeds, dogma or fixed doctrine. It adheres to the concept that a religion must stress the improvement of life. It accepts as authority reason, common sense and experience, both personal and social, and it encourages continuing re-evaluation of religion in the light of new knowledge and experience.

Membership is open to people of all races and cultural and religious backgrounds with the single stipulation that none shall try to dominate the religious thinking of others but rather that all shall strive through material and spiritual change to improve the welfare of all humanity.
