Sunday Services coming up in September 2001:
Sunday, September 9th, will be an
In-Gathering service. We will hear music from our bell tower and then enter our
sanctuary singing. We will blend waters of significance.
Rev. Dr. Mark Ehman will be in the pulpit and will begin a monthly series
that will continue through the church year. His overall topic is Wisdom of World
Religions Applied to Today. This first in the series will be drawing on blended
traditions in Hinduism. Embellishments will include the music of Bach with
perhaps a few words of commentary on the significance to the day's activities.
Our choir will be back singing their hearts out. Come one, come all!
On September 16th our pulpit guest will be Jan Roberts, Executive Director of the Institute of Ethics and Meaning in Tampa. Her topic will be "Earth Charter Summit: A Declaration of Interdependence." The charter is to be signed at cities around the nation on September 29th.
On the 23rd, Dr. Ehman will speak on "Music and the Human Spirit."
The final Sunday of September we expect
to have Rev. Dr. Marni Harmony, of the UU church in Orlando. Marni's
title is "Spiritual Promiscuity and the Way of Faithfulness." Her
description of her message to us is:
"How do UUs shape and sustain communal practices that embody and form a
faithful way of life? I will recommend several different practices that I
believe do or can enrich our congregation life."
Come and be uplifted by the embrace of our community.
Come and be surprised! Perhaps Caron Gleason will treat us to a song. Those who have heard Caron sing and play ( and even whistle) know what a rich and beautiful gift she has to share with us. Perhaps Womynfolke will be presenting a gorgeous blend of voices and instruments with a multi-dimensional message. Or some person or group new to us will burst forth in song.
