Rev. Dr. Janet E. Newman

Who Is Our Minister?

Dr. Janet Newman is currently our Interim Minister. She began her time with us on September 1, 2000, and will serve our congregation during the 2000-2001 church year. During this time we will begin our search for a Settled Minister. (The process usually takes one to two years)

Dr. Newman has been an accredited Unitarian Universalist Interim Minister since 1989. She graduated from Smith College with a B.A. in Hispanic Studies; she studied Theology at Wesley Theological Seminary and the University of Chicago, where she earned an M.A. from the Divinity School. She received her Doctor of Ministry from Meadville Lombard Theological School in 1983.

Before entering the Interim Ministry she served as a Settled Minister at the UU Fellowship of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and as Associate Minister for All Souls Unitarian Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Since entering the Interim Ministry she has served diverse UU congregations in Florida, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and Massachusetts. Her experience and skill are widely appreciated and her assistance during this transition period is most welcome.
