You must assess what the likelihood is that any company that is not well along in its y2k repair will be in business in late 2000 -- or even in the second quarter. If that company is your employer, or your main buyer, or your main supplier, you are in very big trouble.
This long list of things that organizations need to have been doing since early 1997 is important. It is important because almost no organization has begun doing them. Print it out. Read it. All of it.
The list is so long that you will be tempted to think, "How can this be done by Jan. 1, 2000?" Go ahead: submit to the temptation. The correct answer is: "Almost none."
