WASHINGTON, March 17 (Reuters) - Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan is due to give a speech before the Council on Foreign Relations on Wednesday evening, but the event will not be open to the public, a council spokesman said on Tuesday.
The spokesman said Greenspan's speech on ``Global Finance'' at the Washington offices of the nonprofit organization would be ``a private, council-only event'' and by invitation only.
He added the council had been contacted by the Fed and asked whether the group was interested in Greenspan delivering a speech on the topic.
No further details were immediately available.
