The mid-1996 report by the Japan Information Service Industry Association, "Report on User Questionaire for the Year 2000 Issues," is truly scary. It says that under 30% of Japan's large corporations had begun its y2k repair. For government agencies, the figure was about 13%.
The magnitude of the task has not penetrated the thinking of Japanese managers and officials. But, then again, it has not penetrated the thinking of any other nation's managers or officials.
Or newsletter writers.
