If oil is threatened by noncompliant chips, then Western civilization is threatened. We run on oil. The industry until recently has ignored the problem. This may change this fall, but this fall is too late. The following posting from de Jager's discussion list is important for what it doesn't say: (1) the industry has waited too long; (2) everything is vulnerable if this industry is vulnerable.
