FINAL DAY IN ADELAIDE Tuesday
It was nice to have a "sleep-in" morning...only thing is we can never really do it! Once the sun comes up we're up!! It was an absolutely beautiful sunny day with a wonderful fresh breeze. I got to take a bath in a tub and wear real people clothes and dry my hair with Tamsyns dryer!! The guys were making fun of me.... 'Mom, you're only going to the zoo!' I got a razing for the ten minutes of rollers in the hair. Andrew was writing about his kayaking trip on the computer so Rus and I headed down to the little deli. We got food for brunch. I love that little place! We walked down to the main road to catch the bus into town. Our mission was to get the next travel arrangements finalized. We made a stop at a back-packers place downtown and the Quantas office. I am set to leave at 8:00 a.m for a three day trip up the coast road to Melbourne. Rus will go with me to the bus station and then he'll catch a bus to the airport. He leaves about 11:00 a.m. Andrew will leave Adelaide on Saturday and meet me in the Sydney airport so we can fly to New Zealand together. We are set for a fifteen day backpacker trip for both islands. I know Rusty wishes he could join us in this last part!! We picked up sandwiches and sat on the lawn in a park square to eat. We were joined by many seagulls!! Andrew left us waiting on confirmations and he headed to the bank to get New Zealand money. When we finished up Rus and I caught the city loop bus and went to the Adelaide Zoo for a couple hours. I finally got to see a Tasmanian Devil. Our photo of him for this page didn't turn out or you could see him too.
Rus and I talked with Chris (teacher we visited earlier) and planned to have dinner tonight with her. Her husband, Allen is double timing on the kitchen trying to get it ready to be painted by Saturday. He's taping and floating right now. Too bad we didn't know what he was doing .... we could have chipped in on the project. We met Chris at the malls balls and walked down to the east end. We ate in an Italian type place and the food was excellent. Rus tried Morton Bay Bugs. They looked like small lobster tails. I had a vegetarian calazone. I wasn't sure I would be able to waddle out!! We walked with Chris back to her car and went to her house to meet Allen and see the project under way. Chris says they are adding on so they can accommodate all their foreign friends!! .We've enjoyed getting to know Chris and visiting her classroom. We've told her we now expect visits in Louisiana and Florida!! Chris took Rus by a grocery for an errand and then brought us home. The remainder of the evening we packed and readied for departures. Andrew had a date and was scarce! Things are really hopping with all the kids out of school!! He made some good friends on the kayaking trip and is enjoying them.
