And now it's fall... no we haven't fallen off the face of the earth. Things have been busy, but all is going well.
Sesame is continuing to mature, and is becoming quite a beautiful girl. Shows
grind to a halt in Florida during most of the summer, but we did attend a WWKC show.
Sesame went BIS - Adult Bitch! The judge loved her movement, and frankly, I agree
Our first AKC show this fall was this past November 3 in Venice, Florida. Sesame
went BOB! Nice start for the show season! Looking forward to a good fall/winter!
As mentioned in the last update, I have posted the show photo from Sesame's Casselbury
win. The weather was windy and rainy, so her coat laid rather "flat". Oh, well... I
have also posted her Venice show photo, and am much happier with that one. Please
check it out in our Photo Gallery!
Gandalf is also doing well, but has joined Khayyam as an official "couch potato".
We have decided to retire him from the ring and put all our energies into showing
Sesame. Gandalf is happy staying home with "Daddy"... and Daddy's happy to have him
hanging around while Mommy's off playing dog show!
Guestbook updates coming soon!!!! Please check back.
April already -- hard to believe that I've been "gone" for all this time!
Sorry to have left this website unattended for so long, but our family had
a major personal crises that took our attention away from doing all kinds
of fun things. Things have settled down, and... we're back!!! My apologies
to anyone who may have signed our guestbook since January; please do try
again -- we've missed you!
Snoos are doing fine. Khayyam and Kaeli were both clipped down due to time
issues concerning the above mentioned crises, but since this is Florida, I'm
sure both of them will actually enjoy their summer haircuts.
And now -- time for a brag! On March 30, 1996, at Casselburry, Florida, Sesame
went WB, BOW, and BOS for her first point! We were very excited, and hope
that it's the start of many more points for her. Our thanks go out to Mr. Charles Trotter for appreciating our young girl. I'll post the show photo as
soon as I receive it.
Nice to be back!
Thanks to everyone who took the time to send birthday wishes to Sesame. She
had a very nice birthday, complete with a piece of cake and lots of cuddles
from her family. We appreciate all of our cyberfriends help in making it an
extra special day for her.
The weather has been good and chilly here (50's & 60's, this is Florida,
remember), and the dogs love it! We were disappointed to find out that there
will NOT be lure coursing up in Ocala this coming New Year's weekend. We
were hoping to finish out Gandalf's JC title, and letting Sesame try the lure.
Well, we are STILL working on getting coursing going in our local area. It
seems that we might be able to secure use of a field that is only about 2
minutes from our house, so that would be absolutely wonderful for us! We're
keeping our fingers crossed...
We have the winter circuit coming up next month. Lots of dogs and handlers come
down from up north, so the competition is fierce. I think that we'll do a couple
of days in Sarasota because it is close and I want Sesame to have the practice.
If we win, great! If not, I'll view it as a practice match. Either way, I'm sure
we'll have fun.
This is my last news update for the year, so to everyone out here in cyberspace,
our best wishes to you and yours for a happy and fulfilling new year! Wags!
Today is our little girl's first birthday! Amazing how quickly the time goes,
isn't it? Well, I may be biased, but I do think that she is growing up to be
quite a lovely snoo. When they are little puppies, you wait, and you hope, and
you keep your fingers crossed that everything will turn out well. Now I can
say that I really like what I see on her. Her head has turned out to be nicely
chiseled and refined, and her angles are beautiful, and she moves soundly.
A *little* bit more neck would be nice, but isn't there always something we'd
ideally like to change
Tomorrow we are going to have a cake and informal party for her at our home.
We will be taking pictures, and will post them as soon as they are developed.
If you have not done so already, please sign our "guestbook". You can be with us
in "CyberSpirit", if not in flesh!
As for our last show, she won her class, but not the points. That was her last
time in puppy class -- now it's on to 12-18 month. Then Open!
Wags, and happy holidays to all!!!
Seems like forever since I've updated this page! Between snoos and work, things
have been pretty busy around here.
The weather has been wonderful, and the snoos have really been enjoying it. Nice
and dry, and mild. Great weather for running! Sesame has grown up to be quite a
fast and nimble little girl; I can hardly wait to see what she can do on the
coursing field! She can outrun anyone else in our yard, and as a result, she
usually takes the role of "prey" when they are chasing each other. One of her
favorite tricks is to dash into the shrubs, trees and bushes against one side of
our yard, and play hide and seek. Khayyam and Gandalf have caught on, however,
and wait for her near where she usually emerges. And they have the nerve to say
that Afghans are "stupid"! Oh, really?!?
Our all-breed club is having its show this Saturday, and we have been busy
preparing for it. I am the obedience trophy chairperson, and that will keep me
busy the day of the show. Another club is putting on the Sunday show, and I will
be showing Sesame. Wish us luck!
Happy Thanksgiving to all!!!
The rain has stopped! Yea! We've been mowing and checking the perimeter of the
fence for damage due to the storms this summer. The snoos get to run again!
As I mentioned in my last news update, I was planning on showing Sesame at the
Venice, FL dog show. Unfortunately, I faxed those entries over, and it seems
that they didn't get through. Arggggh! I really like that showsite, and it's
one of the closer and more conveinent shows for us. Oh, well, life goes on...
Our little Sesame is growing up! She's 10 1/2 months now, and is right on standard
at 25" at the shoulder. She may get a little bit bigger yet, but I still expect
her to remain in the standard of +/- one inch. Her coat is coming in nicely,
and I'm just bracing myself for the puppy coat blow!
Our all breed club is trying to get lure coursing established in our area. At
the present time, it's a 4-5 hour drive for the closest coursing. One of our
club members thinks that she may have found a field for us to use. Let's hope
things work out.
Hope everyone else is doing well! Thanks to all for the e-mail. If I haven't
replied promptly to everyone, my apologies - things have been hectic with work,
and many times when I want to reply to a piece of mail, the phone rings, and
my personal time goes straight downhill from there. Once again, my apologies.
Wags to all!
As a result, the snoos have been indoors more than usual, and they do get
restless. It really amazes me to watch them play when they've been cooped up
like this. They can absolutely tear through the living room, do touch and
go landings on the sofa, and yet do not destroy the place. Such grace and
agility!
Our next show will be Venice, Florida at the beginning of next month. It
doesn't look like we'll be able to make it to Ocala, so our next show after
that will be the Greater Naples club, held here in Fort Myers.
Hope everyone else is doing great! Back to brushing... AND bathing!
Well, we just came back from a weekend of shows over in West Palm Beach.
As always, we had a good time! Sesame was entered in the 9-12 month puppy
class, and went 2nd on Saturday and 3rd on Sunday. Still, this was only
her second weekend of shows, and she did behave very nicely for me in the ring.
She hadn't been shown since spring, so I was afraid that she might have
forgotten what it was all about! No, she thought the whole affair was
just an excuse to nibble on liver (grin).
We also went to the South Florida Afghan Hound Club's fun match. It was held at
Brigette Crow's house (Cobra), and we had a good time. Time spent with
friends, cute puppies to ooh and ahh over, and Brigette's wonderful hospitality.
All in all, it was a very nice weekend.
Things are FINALLY drying out around here! It's good to have the yard more or
less back to normal. Now, to finish mowing after all that rain!
And I finally have some photos scanned and placed up here!!! Yes, there are more
on the way, so please check back soon.
Hope everyone else's snoos are doing well. As for us... Back to brushing...

Wet again! Will this rain ever stop! Actually, it's not as bad as it was
last month, but the ground is so saturated that it cannot absorb the rain
from our normal afternoon thundershowers. So, our yard is still very swampy,
and that's REALLY tough on coats.
