    and Curator Bill Yeager.

    Cheryl MacDonald, RR Nanticoke Historical Author.
    A Sunday afternoon Special Events Programme, 2-4 p.m.
    Cheryl MacDonald speaks about Meta Schooley Laws,
    who lived near Cayuga, and who was active in journalism
    and community affairs in an earlier generation.
     
  • April 16: GenCIG - NHS Computer Users Group.
    7 p.m. at the Museum. "Budgeting for a Computer"
    by computer consultant/writer/editor John Cardiff.
    Focusing on hardware and software you need for genealogy.
     
  • May 7:
    NHS Genealogy Group. 7 p.m. research, 8 p.m. meeting.
    "Desk Top Publishing with Robert Mutrie"
    Best known for his extensive reference volume on Norfolk
    County pioneers, 'The Long Point Settlers', Robert Mutrie
    will bring a genealogical slant to his programme on local
    historical writing and publishing.
     
  • May 13:
    Spring Luncheon, 12:30 p.m. at the Museum
    Annual luncheon sponsored by NHS Display Committee
    volunteers. Heritage Architecture theme.
     
  • May 21, June 18:

    with Alastair Neely, from London Public Libraries.
    Last meeting of the spring for NHS Genealogy Group.

    Grand River Branch UEL.   2:30 p.m. at the Museum.
    Renew your friendships with the congenial members of
    The Grand River Branch of the United Empire Loyalists
    as they bring their mobile meeting to the EBD Museum.
    Our own Bill Terry is their new 1997 President.
    Speaker: Simcoe author & novelist David Beasley.
     
  • June 22:
    Heritage Gardens Tour of Old Waterford,   1-5 p.m.
    A very special opportunity to peek into nine of the most
    beautiful and historic properties of Victorian Waterford
    and area. Lovely gardens, pools and fountains, mostly
    hidden away from the casual passerby on the street, mostly
    in a setting of century old homes.   Only $5 per ticket.
    A fund raiser for the NHS and the Eva Brook Donly Museum.
    Also:
    • Master Gardeners volunteers on hand
    • NHS Plant Sale
    • Strawberry Social at historic Waterford United Church with floral displays by Waterford & Townsend Horticultural Society (tickets $3; proceeds to the UCW)

    Donations welcome! Anything useful and saleable.
    Household items, books, tools, collectibles, etc.

    Norfolklore '97 - 21st annual Genealogy Fair
    New location: Simcoe Armories. (more space!)

  • Special Opportunity:
    A small number of long out-of-print copies of George Pond's hardcover book of early Simcoe photographs, Milestones & Memories have been acquired for sale as a fundraising effort to benefit the NHS. Completely unavailable for more than a decade. A few copies only, at $60 each.
     
  • Special Opportunity:
    A handful of copies of It Was Only Yesterday by Col. W.D. Stalker have been unearthed and donated by The Simcoe Reformer for re-sale as a fundraising effort to benefit the Norfolk Historical Society. Out-of-print and completely unavailable since the original booklet sold out shortly after publication. Now just 3 copies available one last time.
