SPORTS
THE WAVE is proud of it's Sports Department, which covers national, regional,
and local sports with updates, sports-talk shows, and live events.
"Drive-Time With the Captain" is a local sports call-in show heard every Monday
& Friday at 5:00PM. On Mondays, host Sal Capaccio reviews weekend sports action and has interviews with national members of the sports media, as well as local high school coaches. On Fridays, Capaccio reviews the previous week and previews the weekends big games, all the while giving away T-Shirts, mugs, caps, and tickets to area sporting events, ie: Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Florida State Seminoles home games.
The Prime Sports Network picks up where The Captain leaves off. Ed Berliner welcomes you into the "Pressbox" every Monday and Friday beginning at 6:00PM and every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 5:00PM. Listeners have the chance to call Ed and give him their views on Sports. The Prime Sports Network also airs beginning at 12 noon on Saturday and Sunday, with humorous, entertaining, and insightful sports talk, unless THE WAVE is covering a live sports event.

That's right! THE WAVE is an affiliate of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Florida State Seminoles, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, the Miami Dolphins, and the Miami Hurricanes. During football season, you can always catch one of these teams Saturday & Sunday, or the Westwood One game-of-the-week, which gives people who live in Southwest Florida to hear their favorite team at anytime during the season.

During Basketball season, THE WAVE carries all the best action from the best conferences in NCAA division 1, including the SEC, ACC Big East, and BigTen, et.al. Catch live action during conference and national "March Madness" tournament games.

THE WAVE may be most proud of it's local sports coverage. We are the voice of the Lemaon Bay High School Manta Rays football team, and boys and girls basketball teams. We also carry Englewood Area Little League Baseball games during the spring. Sal Capaccio, Scott Holcomb, John Jay, Bruce Morris, Jeremy Doerfeld, and Andy Rose team up to give you the best coverage of high school and Little League play-by-play, color commentary, and statstics. And, oh! By the way, if you want to hear what's going on everyday in sports, just tune to "The Breakfast Club" every Monday through Friday at 8:05AM and hear Sal Capaccio give "The Longest One Minute in Sports" at 8:50AM.
Thanks! And be a good sport !!!!!
