I am a doomsayer because I keep pointing out that there are no compliant large firms, except possibly Visa/MasterCard. But when it comes to doomsaying, the power grid is the mother of all sources.
There are over 7,800 power-supplying firms in the U.S. As far as I can determine, all of them are noncompliant.
All talk about "two years to compliance" is unsupported by the evidence. Also "three years to compliance." There is no compliance so far. But there is a deadline.
How many noncompliant firms will it take to bring down the U.S. power grid? How about, say, 7,800?
Anyone who professes even the vaguest optimism regarding y2k needs to answer this: "If the power grid goes down, what good are all the other compliant systems, should two or three actually appear?"
I know, I know: "They'll get it fixed."
Just as they've fixed the [???] industry.
