In the summer of 1996, the U.S. electrical power grid was hit with two major power failures in the West. This outage threatened the whole system. Yet these problems were initially local. What happens when the problems are national? Think of the sun storms that are expected to peak in 2000? Then think of breakdowns due to computer failures.

Here is a brief report on the failures of 1996. This is only the beginning.
