Our plane wasn’t due to leave Auckland until 2:45 p.m. We had the morning to just walk the town. We noticed a tremendous Asian population again. We had first really noticed it in Queenstown. They called that a little Singapore. Asians own so many of the shops in both these locations. After we paid for our airport shuttle bus tickets we realized we had $4.55 cents between us. We found pastries in a bakery for breakfast. We rationed it out so we could have a snack later. We knew we’d have a meal on the plane. By the time we left we had 55 cents we decided to keep for keepsakes. I had five New Zealand stamps left and wanted to buy some postcards but couldn’t! Our shuttle picked us up at 11:00 so we had a little time in the airport to go through Duty Free.

Air New Zealand always serves a nice meal. There wasn’t time for a movie but they always have programs that tell you about the country where you are headed. We arrived in Mile End by taxi about 7:30 or 8:00 p.m. A lot had happened while we were gone. Tamsyn had moved out and Phil who had moved in Chris’s room was gone as well. Now there were three male roommates. The only girl left is Kylie. Ben is in girl Chris then Phil’s room, Steve in Tamsyn’s room and boy Chris in Andrew’s spare room where we had stayed. Andrew’s room is rented out starting in February. He was planning to be packed and put his stuff in storage by Jan. 10. It was nice to be back. It even felt like home to me.
