  Philosophy
The LCMSA members contribute to our community through our projects.
To succeed in these efforts, we need the talents and resources of all our
membership.  We are happy to receive any level of commitment, be it
serving on a committee or simply attending a charity event!  Please
review the projects and consider participating.  If you need further
information or would like to contribute, please
click their name for e-mailing or use your
  Personal Membership Directory.

We help future physicians by supporting
education funds which provide assistance to medical students
and their schools around the country.
As a fundraiser for this AMA Foundation project, our Alliance
produces an annual Holiday "Sharing Card".
It's a great way to support your spouse's
Alma Mater with a creative card to wish "Happy Holidays" to
  fellow members.

  Buckle Bear is a
safety project whose loveable character teaches young, at risk children the
value of buckling up in the car.  The project involves a puppet show and
video which are brought to pre-schools in our county all
year long, by our own Alliance member volunteers.

The Alliance has a long history of fundraising for
local health-related needs through annual events such as
ongoing raffles and other fundraising projects.
Since 1984, the Alliance has raised over ONE MILLION DOLLARS
during our Major Charity Events, with proceeds going toward
  the Mini-Grants Program. We will
continue our commitment to support Lee County's
  community through these efforts.
  For more
  information, click
  Mini-grants.

The Alliance is an active participant in the
legislative process and in supporting issues relevant to medicine and our
physician spouses.  We communicate with our legislators directly and hold
an annual Legislative event which our state and federal legislators attend.
For date and times of any upcoming legislative
  event, please see the
  Calendar. Be sure to
  see our Legislative
Update page for the latest information on
  Medical Legislation.

We have found that donations to the homeless often neglect to include
  first-aid and personal
  hygiene products and other toiletries.
Each year, Alliance volunteers begin this project with a
collection campaign of these items in the Fall and conclude with assemblage
and distribution to homeless-aid organizations just before the winter
holidays. If you would like to assist in the collection or assemblage, or if
you have items to donate (monetary donations are greatly appreciated, too),
please contact the Chairperson listed above. See the
Calendar for the upcoming assemblage date.

S.A.V.E. is a national program of the
  American Medical Association Alliance
  of physician spouses. This year,
2003, the Lee County Medical Society Alliance
  will host its
3nd Annual Bullies and Victims Workshop for
  Lower School Guidance Counselors, Child-teaching
  Professionals and Alliance members.
  This project helps to increase
the public's awareness of the ever-increasing problem
of violence in our schools.  Thanks to our
underwriters, there is no charge for the Workshops
and accompanying educational materials. Please read our S.A.V.E. page
  for other links and info.

The main objective for developing and maintaining the LCMSA website is
to better serve our membership and our
community. We've been online since 1998 and
are always looking for better ways to utilize this powerful
  communication tool. If you have
any concerns or bright ideas, please contact our Web Goddess, err...
  Webmaster.
